Icomera and Swedish Connection AB use new Icomera X Series platform to deliver IP video surveillance to Nobina AB for 400 buses in Stockholm, Sweden
Göteborg, Sweden, April 8th 2011 – Icomera, the world’s leading provider of open Internet connectivity and application platforms, has been selected to deliver its X Series routers to Nobina AB for installation on 400 buses in the Stockholm area. With its 5,000 employees and 2,100 buses, Nobina is the largest bus operator in Sweden and has a 30% market share for public bus transport in the country.
The system includes an IP video surveillance application from Icomera application partner Swedish Connection AB, with support for local storage and video offloading. The video management system includes a viewing station software with synchronised video display support.
Through the system, the Swedish police will be able to search and select in the recorded data and download GPS tagged video footage directly over the Internet. Nobina will also use the Icomera X Series platform to provide Internet services for passengers on selected routes.
“By investing in an open application and connectivity platform, we are laying the foundation for future services” says Claes Herlitz, Director IT at Nobina. “IP video surveillance is the first application, but we have a list of services we want to add, such as service and maintenance planning. The platform will enable us to perform service upgrades without having to take buses out of service.”
As part of the project, the application Observit VVR from Swedish Connection will be installed on the platform. “Icomera has been a very easy and professional partner to work with, both technically and organisationally”, says Sune Sundell, CEO of Swedish Connection. “It took us just a few hours to put our application on the Icomera X Series router and the interfaces in the Icomera platform are clear and simple to integrate against.”
“This deal is truly groundbreaking”, says Roger Sandén, CEO of Icomera. “Nobina is showing great strategic vision by focusing not just on getting the best platform in place to support CCTV today but also to support rapid and cost-effective service innovation over the coming years.”
The installation of the 400 systems will be completed in time for the start of the next school year in September 2011.
