Göteborg, Sweden, March 14 2013 – Icomera, a world leader in mobile connectivity solutions, announced today that Karl-Johan Holm has been appointed President and CEO as of 15th April 2013. Mr. Holm brings relevant industry experience to his new role after serving in various senior management positions for the past 20 years. Roger Sandén, Icomera’s President and CEO until that date, will stay closely involved through the transition to impart knowledge and consult as required.
“We could not have selected a better person for the position,” said Lennart Svantesson, Chairman of Icomera’s board. “Karl-Johan has leadership talent, experience, and vision in enterprise and I am convinced that he will lead Icomera to continued success.”
Mr. Sandén will be stepping down to retire to Portugal after three years as Icomera’s President and CEO during which time he has led the company to growth of over 140%. “I have enjoyed my time with Icomera immensely and this was not a decision I took lightly. I have every confidence in that Icomera will continue its positive development under the leadership of Karl-Johan.”
Mr. Holm commented “I am excited to be joining a company that launched the world’s first high speed train passenger WiFi service and that has gone on to deliver connectivity to many thousands of vehicles across rail, road and sea and has delivered WiFi to over 30 million people across all continents. Icomera is ideally placed to capitalise on a fantastic technology platform and product base. There is an ever-increasing demand for people all over the world to be connected to the Internet and for transport operating companies to be able to manage their fleets in real-time.”
Icomera launched the world’s first high-speed Internet solution for trains in September 2002 and is today the world’s leading provider of open Internet connectivity and application platforms for passenger transport and public safety. Our award-winning products are deployed on rail, road and sea, serving more than 30 million Wi-Fi users in over 24 countries and providing high-speed access for fleet tracking and mission-critical on-board systems.
Transport solutions of the future will require more than connectivity – passengers need to be entertained, the vehicles need to be monitored and the staff need to be kept informed. Together with our application partners Icomera is already meeting these and other needs through the deployment of complete transportation communication solutions.
