Dubai, UAE, 21st January 2015: du, the Official Smart City Wi-Fi Provider in Dubai, has chosen Icomera as its technology partner, giving Dubai Tram commuters a cutting-edge Wi-Fi service throughout their journey. Icomera’s X-Series platform will support passenger Wi-Fi over the du 4G/LTE network, which is being introduced across the tram route and tram stations.
The set-up is designed so that users can experience seamless multimodal connectivity across trams and stations, accessible via any smart device. The network is now operational in two trams and at all 11 stations and work on the nine remaining trams will be completed soon.
Icomera has been creating mobile Internet solutions for over a decade, matching Wi-Fi and transport providers with the service most suitable for them. The adaptive nature of the X-series platform means that Dubai Tram can keep pace with any newer technologies that may be developed and maintain a state-of the-art network. This kind of technology is ideal for Dubai’s Smart City initiative: to make public transport eco-friendly, user-friendly and communicative.
