Arriva in Essex continued their roll-out of free Wi-Fi by launching the facility on their No.5 buses this week. The route runs between Southend and Basildon, and extends Icomera’s Wi-Fi service to a new fleet of Arriva vehicles.
Five refurbished buses have received smart eco-leather seating, free on-board Wi-Fi and an eye-catching new colour scheme. The buses were inspected by Southend MPs James Duddridge and Sir David Amess, the mayors of Southend and Castle Point and the Deputy Mayor of Basildon.
Richard Lewis of Arriva said, “We’re pleased to have invested in this vehicle upgrade to give our Service 5 customers an improved journey experience and we hope that the striking new ‘MAX’ livery will increase awareness of the service to encourage more people to start using it.
“Our customers in other areas clearly like free Wi-Fi on their buses and we are sure that this feature will become just as popular on this route as they travel through Westcliff, Leigh, Hadleigh, Thundersley and Benfleet.”
The free Wi-Fi is proving popular in the run-up to Christmas, with passengers utilising the service to browse the Internet, catch up on emails or do some online shopping.
