Last month, Greater Anglia announced that their brand-new Stadler “FLIRT” trains are currently being tested at their Norwich depot ahead of their expected introduction into their Stansted Express fleet from mid-2019. The trains will offer additional luggage racks, air-conditioning, at-seat plugs and USB sockets, and free Passenger Wi-Fi and Real-Time Information services.
The Passenger Wi-Fi and Real-Time Information services provided on the new trains is powered by Icomera’s state-of-the-art multi-unit solution based on their cutting-edge mobile technology platform.
The Icomera X5 mobile access and applications router offers high-performance LTE-A connectivity to the train and 10 Gigabit networking to meet future demand for data transfer inside the train and to passengers’ smart devices.
Ian McConnell, Greater Anglia Franchising and Programmes Director, told us: “Greater Anglia’s mission is to deliver the highest standards of service. We are proud to offer Icomera’s advanced Wi-Fi technology to passengers, in addition to providing a safe, clean, and punctual service.”
Dave Palmer, Managing Director of Icomera UK, commented: “We are extremely pleased to have been entrusted with delivering high-performance Wi-Fi and Real-Time Information to Greater Anglia’s passengers. Icomera is really excited to deploy the next generation of our connectivity technology for mobility in the UK, especially on the Stansted Express service, which gives tourists and visitors a strong first impression of the UK.”
