Arriva Yorkshire, which runs services across Leeds, Castleford and Wakefield, is introducing 37 new buses from the end of June as part of an £8m investment. The buses will be replaced with new state-of-the-art buses offering free Wi-Fi, USB sockets and leather seating. Some will additionally be fitted with audio/visual next stop announcements.
Jon Croxford, area managing director for Arriva Yorkshire said: “This is an incredible proud moment for Arriva as we put another multi-million pound investment into the network and increase the journey experience for our customers.”
The company has also announced that it is now starting work on upgrading buses in Wakefield that will go into service towards the end of July and early August. All new buses will carry the new bright and vibrant livery which will then be gradually rolled out across the region on all new and refurbished buses.
