Icomera is delighted to announce that more passengers and staff travelling with Abellio ScotRail will be able to take advantage of its Wi-Fi service from autumn this year.
Icomera has been awarded the contract to extend its successful Passenger Wi-Fi solution to five more Abellio ScotRail fleets (129 trains). These fleets join the existing C170 fleet of 55 trains already served by the mobile Internet pioneers, bringing Icomera’s ScotRail Wi-Fi service to 184 trains in total – more than half of Abellio ScotRail’s current fleet. Customers travelling around Strathclyde, in particular, will benefit from this rollout.
Increasing numbers of passengers wish to stay connected during their journeys – whether catching up on work emails, shopping online, or using social media. Icomera’s patented SureWAN signal aggregation technology provides a high-quality, fast and consistent experience for passengers – making the most of available cellular networks to keep passengers connected.
Abellio ScotRail were particularly attracted by the potential of Icomera’s virtual application platform, supported by all Icomera X-Series onboard hardware, which can be expanded to integrate additional services over time as required. Later this year, Icomera will integrate their onboard solution with ScotRail’s backhaul station Wi-Fi for the transfer of onboard CCTV data.
