South West Trains, the UK rail franchise operated by Stagecoach Group, is deploying a new free passenger Wi-Fi service on routes served by its Class 158/159 trains.
Provided by mobile Internet connectivity pioneers Icomera, the project covers 41 trains in total and extends a free passenger Wi-Fi service to more South West Trains routes, including services west of Salisbury for the first time.
Arthur Pretorius, Customer Service Director at South West Trains said: “The demand for free Wi-Fi access on-the-go from rail passengers is undeniably there. We’re delighted to be able to extend the availability of these services to additional routes, helping our customers to make the most of their journey time with us.”
Commenting on Icomera’s long-standing relationship with Stagecoach Group across both their Road and Rail operations, Dave Palmer, Managing Director of Icomera UK, said: “This marks the beginning of another chapter in Icomera’s ongoing supply of industry-leading transport Wi-Fi solutions and connected applications to Stagecoach Group. We look forward to successfully completing this project with South West Trains and delivering a passenger experience that all parties can be proud of.”
