Leading on-train Wi-Fi service provider Icomera is to be the main sponsor of this year’s Wi-Fi on Trains Conference hosted by BWCS. The event, which will be held on the 10th and 11th of June in London, will bring together train operators and rail administrators from across the world to share experiences of launching and upgrading on-board Wi-Fi systems.
BWCS recently announced a major new keynote speaker for the conference. Gavin James – Project Sponsor of the Digital Railways Group in the Department for Transport and the man behind the government’s proposed £50 million investment in free, on-train Wi-Fi in the UK – will speak on the first day, outlining future plans for wireless connectivity on the rail network.
“In many ways, the UK is leading the world in this sector,” argues Graham Wilde, CEO of BWCS “and we are delighted that Gavin and his team will be joining us for the two day event.”
As ever, the conference is firmly focused on getting train operators from all over the world to share their real-life stories of putting Wi-Fi onto their trains, fighting to keep the customers happy and struggling to add new services and increase bandwidth.
Danish rail authority Banedanmark will also talk about its project to persuade mobile operators and train companies to work together to help achieve better trackside coverage in Denmark (a project in which BWCS participated) and Jim Baker will be reporting on how the much anticipated wayside network trial is progressing in the US. Other speakers will come from: Indian Railways, the world’s largest train operator, Deutsche Bahn and a host of other train companies in Europe, the US and Asia.
The conference will take place in London on the 10th and 11th of June. Places are extremely limited and the event is selling out fast. Tickets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
