Part of a £16 million overhaul project, the first of a fleet of ScotRail trains to be fitted with Passenger Wi-Fi was unveiled at East Kilbride station on Tuesday 27th June.
With the refurbishment due to be completed in March 2019, 38 Class 156 diesel trains will see Passenger Wi-Fi, power sockets and new seats added. Additionally, the trains will be fitted with new flooring, lighting and tables, disabled accessible toilets and dedicated wheelchair spaces. The trains will serve connections between Glasgow and other Scottish hubs, including Edinburgh and East Kilbride.
ScotRail Alliance engineering director Angus Thom commented: “The improved connectivity and enhanced comfort the trains offer, are what everyone who travels by train now expects.”
