Stagecoach South West, which replaced some of First Devon and Cornwall’s services last year, has launched a new fleet of 26 buses for Plymouth, as part of a £5 million investment. Most buses feature free Icomera Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to use their travel time for connecting, digital chores and entertainment.
The buses will be running on route 3, connecting Dartmouth and Plymouth, and on the 1/X1 service connecting Plymouth with Tavistock. The remaining vehicles will be deployed on the Park and Ride routes, replacing the current fleet, with luxury leather seating and livery celebrating Plymouth’s ‘Ocean City’ status.
Cllr Brian Vincent, Plymouth City Council’s cabinet member for Streetscene, said: ‘The launch of this new fleet is good news for Plymouth and for bus passengers. It’s great to see investment in new, modern vehicles for these services, which will help encourage more people to use public transport in and around the city.’
