Stagecoach have announced a £2.5 million investment in its Winchester city-centre vehicles, focusing not only on reducing carbon emissions, but also on new technology including free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, CCTV, and GPS tracking.
The firm has also restored evening services, with many services now running until 11pm and a new Nightrider service offering unlimited journeys after 7pm for £2 to encourage safe and inexpensve city-wide travel.
Stagecoach managing director Michael Watson said: “We are proud to announce this investment in new buses and the investment in the fleet and evening gives something back to our many bus users in Winchester and we hope to encourage even more people to use the bus further into the evening.”
